2 Tbsp melted pastured bacon grease
1 Tbsp liquid smoke
2 tsp maple syrup
1 tsp fine Himalayan sea salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
2 1/2 cups raw walnut halves
1 tsp coarse Himalayan sea salt, optional
Method: Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Set rack in centre of oven .Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, stir together bacon grease, liquid smoke, maple syrup, 1 tsp fine salt, and pepper. Add the walnuts and toss in the smoke mixture until they are completely coated.
Spread coated nuts evenly onto prepared pan. Bake for 15 minutes, stirring regularly.
Let cool completely on pan and store in airtight container.
